We’re always suckers for Cape Cod and Craftman homes but this is one we really liked. 4079 Bluff Street is basically a smaller beach bungalow done right. It offers 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and just under 1,400 square feet on an almost 5,000 foot lot. Originally built in 1948 it’s undergone a great transformation with a bright and beachy look and interior. They did a great job in keeping some of the original feel while both modernizing it and giving it far more charm. Listed with Nicole Reis of Palm Realty the home just came on the market at $1,175,000.

Torrance, California is a big city and it’s neighborhoods and areas vary considerably in the types of homes, feel of the neighborhood, and home prices.
As realtors, we search for homes by neighborhood so that we can best assist our clients to find the right type of homes in the right areas.
Below is a Torrance real estate map used by realtors and used in MLS home searches. The numbers coincide with the areas that we use to search and each has it’s differences and similarities. The three areas that often cause confusion are area 128 the Hollywood Riviera and areas 122 and 123, Harbor Gateway and County Strip. Much of the Hollywood Riviera actually has Redondo Beach, 90277, zip codes but the area is actually part of Torrance and services and schools are Torrance. The County Strip and Harbor Gateway areas actually have Torrance zip codes but are serviced by the city of Los Angeles. It’s distance from the beach, proximity to commercial and industrial, and the schools being LA Unified makes the homes significantly less expensive then the city of Torrance areas.

Many buyers actively seek Torrance neighborhoods for the wonderful community feel, tree lined streets, great schools and family friendly vibe. Nowhere is this more embodied than in the Seaside Ranchos area of South Torrance. The Seaside Ranchos neighborhood is often called Sleepy Hollow or the Christmas Lights area due to the annual show put on by the residents with lights strung across the Chinese Elm trees that line the streets. Sitting just North of Pacific Coast Highway as it turns inland near the Palos Valos Peninsula the neighborhood is a collection of beautiful homes on larger lots. The majority of the homes offer 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and due to the much larger lots than in most areas of Torrance often have fantastic backyards.
The tree lined streets offer a very safe and friendly feel and give the area it’s “Christmas Lights” nickname as all of the community trees are wrapped in white lights during the holidays and rare is the home that isn’t decorated with lights and decorations. The area has become so popular during the holidays that traffic is restricted in the evenings and cars line up for seemingly hours to drive through the spectacular display. Prices generally start in the low $1,000,000s and can price over the $2.5M mark for some of the most impressive homes on oversized lots. One of the newest communities in the South Bay is just nearby as well.
