At the southern end of Torrance, sits the neighborhoods and streets of Walteria. Walteria offers a wonderful combination of older and newer construction, with many of the original “bungalows” still in existence along with more modern construction. This is truly a pride of ownership area with most homes being upgrade throughout yet still keeping their original charm. Among the various neighborhoods is the hilly area known as the Victoria Knolls. With a true community feel, this is a great alternative to the higher home prices in surrounding cities.
Torrance is considered to be a very desirable place to live in Los Angeles County, reflected in the ever-increasing property values and its proximity to the beach communities of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and the upscale coastal communities of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Because of the many respected medical facilities and hospitals in the area, many physicians and professionals also choose to live in Torrance.

The South Bay real estate market is often lumped together as if every area and home were the same and all areas were equally impacted by the downturn in the market. Not only is that far from the case, but even within certain South Bay cities the markets can vary greatly by just crossing a street. Torrance is the largest of main cities that make up the South Bay and is composed of numerous areas and neighborhoods that differ greatly in terms of the type of housing, prices, and other details important in a home search.
One of the best kept secrets in all Torrance and the South Bay is the neighborhood of Victoria Knolls. Located in the area of Walteria, Victoria Knolls is located east of PCH and just east of Crenshaw Blvd. It is accessible by only one road and this factor gives it a sense of privacy, security and isolation. In addition the area is located on the north facing side of the Palos Verdes peninsula and often offers striking city lights views. Homes in the area generally start in the mid $500,000’s for an original single family home and goes up from there depending on age, view, size and location. It offers a great and safe feel with tree lined streets, very little traffic, and a community that all seems to know each other.
