Wonderful Wilson Park in Torrance CA at 2200 Crenshaw

May 15, 2020 by Keith Kyle

Torrance has an abundance of great parks but none really compare with the features and amenities of Wilson Park.  It’s a sprawling patch ofWilson Park in Torrance CA beautiful green open space in the heart of Torrance and across the street from the complexes of Plaza Del Amo.  Located at 2200 Crenshaw Blvd 90501 the aminities and facilities are as diverse as they come.  About the only thing it’s missing is an aquatics center.

View the homes near Wilson Park

They certainly have the usual features…..playgrounds, fields, etcl, but it really is much more of a “recreation center” than a park.  Some of the many things to do at Wilson Park include:

  • Barbecues
  • Basketball Courts
  • Tennis Courts
  • Paddle Tennis/Pickleball Courts
  • Horseshoe Courts
  • Sand Volleyball Courts
  • Children’s Playground
  • .91 mile Fitness Course
  • Annenberg Tree House
  • Electric Car Charging Stations

Also available to reserve:

  • Picnic Areas
  • Softball Diamonds
  • Roller Hockey Rink
  • Indoor Sports Center
  • Outdoor Amphitheater
  • Batting Cages
  • Live Steamers ridable railroad
  • Splash Pad (open April-December)

The park is just amazing with ample parking, playground areas, incredible and unique sports facilities, fields and more.  What makes this so unique is some of the athletic areas unseen just about anywhere else.  These include the usual softball, baseball, soccer fields and tennis and basketball courts but also include a roller hockey rink, futsal turf field, batting cages, a childrens summer water area and a small guage railroad offering actual rides!

Wings of Freedom WWII Aircraft Tour Coming to Torrance

April 16, 2019 by Keith Kyle

For aviation and WWII buffs alike there’s reason to get excited.  The Wings of Freedom Tour is coming to Torrance in April.  Not only can you see some historic aircraft but you can tour them and even fly in them!  Some of the historic planes are the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-25 Mitchell , B-24 Liberator, the P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk.  As a WWII aviation enthusiast myself I can’t wait to see these incredible planes.  Both the B-17 and B-24 offer walk throughs.

Take to the skies!

For an even more unbelievable experience you can fly in the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and B-25 Mitchell. 433 Paseo De La Playa – One of a Kind Home for Sale in the Hollywood Riviera

January 24, 2017 by Keith Kyle

**Please note that this is a post from 2017.  433 Paseo De La Playa has undergone a MAJOR transformation since then and the new home is now for sale (as of 3/7/25) for $22,500,000.  Click here to see the updated listing information.

433 Paseo De La Playa is definitely one of a kind. Perched on the bluff with stunning ocean and coastline views, the home is like something usually seen in Beverly Hills or Bel Aire….not Redondo Beach and Torrance.  Learn more about the oceanfront homes on Paseo De La Playa in the Hollywood Riviera.

Boasting 7 bedrooms (all spacious), 6 1/2 baths, 7,792 square feet on a massive 25,000+ lot that extends to the beach this home has it all…..sports court, gated driveway, ocean view pool and spa (with a mini waterslide) and huge views from many of the rooms.  The home even features a oversized path down to the sand which is rare as the California Coastal Commission highly regulates direct access to the beach and the permitting process (if approved) can take years and years.

The Hollywood Riviera is a fantastic neighborhood with a small town community charm, highly ranked schools and often times some great ocean views.

Riviera Village – Charming Dining and Shopping are in the Hollywood Riviera

July 2, 2016 by Keith Kyle

By Keith Kyle

If you’re looking for a classic beach downtown area and Hermosa and Manhattan are just too crowded, take a trip to the charming Riviera Village in South Redondo Beach.

The Riviera Village features great locally owned shops and restaurants, a very pedestrian friendly feel and sits just a few blocks from the beach.  It has a distinct retro feel of beach towns of old.  Visit homes for sale in Hollywood Riviera to see the current homes for sale and other community information.

Riviera Village offers a charming collection of over 300 eclectic shops, restaurants and services .   Stroll the tree-lined streets or people-watch at one of the sidewalk cafes. Relax in an open environment where Redondo Beach sea breezes keep your shopping and dining cool.

Farmers Market, Fridays 3 to 7 pm

The Riviera Village Farmers Market is a great spot to pick up everything you need for a great picnic at the beach, Saturday night dinner with friends, or relaxing Sunday brunch.  Friday farmer’s market has loads of fresh produce, fruit, and a wide selection of prepared foods, including olive oils, jams and jellies, and snacks.   Grab some local food and head to the beach for a sunset picnic.

Third Thursdays

Enjoy shopping after dinner as selected stores stay open late on the third Thursday of every month. Live music and a drawing for Village gift baskets add to the fun.

Torrance has a beach? Learn About This Great Stretch

July 11, 2014 by Keith Kyle

By Keith Kyle

If you look at a map of the South Bay it certainly appears that Torrance lies just east of Redondo Beach and the closest point to the ocean is a mile or two.  That’s not the case as the Hollywood Riviera, with it’s Redondo zip code and mailing address, is actually the city of Torrance with Torrance schools, services, and more.  Included in this small area is actually a beach affectionately known as “RAT” Beach.  It’s not as bad as it sounds as it actually is short for Right After Torrance but either way it’s a beautiful, yet short, stretch of coastline unlike anything in the neighboring cities of Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan.  Torrance Beach sits below the bluff of the Hollywood Riviera and those willing to walk just a bit get a great and somewhat private beach with views of Palos Verdes to the south and the more widely known Beach Cities to the north.  Torrance Beach basically starts where the Esplanade of Redondo turns into Calle Miramar at the start of the Hollywood Riviera.
