One of our favorite streets in all of the South Bay is Paseo De La Playa in the Hollywood Riviera.
Despite it’s mailing address of Redondo Beach it’s actually in Torrance…..who knew that Torrance had a beach and an oceanfront street? It simply doesn’t get any better than Paseo De La Playa. This unique street sits on the bluff on nestled just before you reach Palos Verdes.
A number of factors make homes on this street unique compared with other areas. While oceanfront homes on the Hermosa and Manhattan Strand are fantastic, the homes along Paseo De La Playa doesn’t have a pedestrian “Strand” out front for all the world to look into your windows.
Here’s a few highlights:
- Huge lots: The lots on Paseo De La Playa extend all the way to the beach below. Whereas 3,500 square feet would be oversize in Manhattan and Hermosa, these lots often well exceed 20,000 square feet
- Incredible views: The homes overlook the ocean, Palos Verdes and the coastline. What makes this so different from Strand homes is that the view becomes a city light and coastline view at night whereas once the sun goes down on the Strand, the beach and ocean are no longer visable.
- Privacy: The homes on the west side of the street have nothing between them and the ocean but bluff so no pedestrians or bikers going past. While the homes of the Strand are often referrred to “living in the fishbowl” that’s definitely not the case here.

The homes on the west side of the street sit ocean front and have lots that extend all the way to the beach. Although it’s nearly impossible to create new access to the beach some of the homes already have trails, paths or stairs to what is almost a private beach. The truly spectacular even offer more…like surf shacks and volleyball courts.
